“Imagine, it’s the year 2026. The Belmont – Mantua Neighborhood Cooperative has been working to improve health in the community for 10 years now and has created several anchor projects in the neighborhood using many of the vacant lots.”

This project for the neighborhoods of Belmont and Mantua in Philadelphia seeks to address health issues in low-income communities by proposing a neighborhood cooperative that strengthens collaboration among community members to work across issues of food, job skills, exercise, safety and housing. The graphic narrative tells the story of the Belmont-Mantua Neighborhood Cooperative at its imagined 10-year anniversary. All characters are fiction, all organizations are real and a great resource for the two neighborhoods and Philadelphia.
